New map of Universe’s dark matter

By Pallab Ghosh Science correspondent, BBC News

3 August 2017

…..In 1998, two teams of astronomers discovered the expansion of the Universe was accelerating, rather than slowing down, as the theory at the time suggested. Physicists speculated that the acceleration was caused by something they named dark energy.

Since then, observations have indicated that dark energy and dark matter together account for 96% of the Universe. The challenge has been to find ways of studying these invisible phenomena in detail…….

“The standard model of cosmology indicates that the total mass–energy of the universe contains 4.9% ordinary matter, 26.8% dark matter and 68.3% dark energy. Wikipedia

It is not an new concept:

“The hypothesis of dark matter knows an elaborate history. In a talk given in 1884, Lord Kelvin estimated the number of dark bodies in the Milky Way galaxy from the observed velocity dispersion of the stars, the speed the stars were orbiting around the center of the galaxy, which he used to estimate the mass of the galaxy, which was different from the mass of stars which can be seen, and concluded that “many of our stars, perhaps a great majority of them, may be dark bodies.”

In 1906 Henri Poincaré in “The Milky Way and Theory of Gases” used “dark matter,” or “matière obscure” in French in discussing Kelvin’s work.

The first to suggest the existence of dark matter (using stellar velocities) was Dutch astronomer Jacobus Kapteyn in 1922. Fellow Dutchman and radio astronomy pioneer Jan Oort also hypothesized the existence of dark matter in 1932”

“In physical cosmology and astronomy, dark energy is an unknown form of energy which is hypothesized to permeate all of space, tending to accelerate the expansion of the universe. Dark energy is the most accepted hypothesis to explain the observations since the 1990s indicating that the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate…..

The word occult comes from the Latin which signifies something hidden or covered, the opposite of apocalypse meaning uncovered or revelation. Most of the universe is occult to us but so is much of our world.

Consider some mighty bridge. You can see it but you cannot see most of it – its designer and the vision, the team that built it, the plans, the materials used and where they were extracted, all the vehicles and people it has carried, in fact the energy that lies behind it. If you see a ruined bridge you see even less, like a burned out star or galaxy. But just because you cannot see it that does not mean it is not there. It is particularly true for us – we are hidden to others. Our minds work in an occult way.

As far as our world is concerned very little of how it functions is apparent, and much is deliberately hidden. We do not know who really runs it, nor what they are aiming for.

I am not a physicist. I recall experiments at school including the creation of a vacuum. That was achieved by pumping air out of a flask. Now one could consider the flask to be empty as a result but that is not quite the case. It is filled with negative energy. If you make a small hole in it that negative energy sucks in air very fast. One could argue that pressure outside the flask pumps air into it. The opposite is a puncture in a tyre pumped up with air to a positive energy. If that makes sense – both are filled with energy but one cannot be seen. Space is considered to be a vacuum although there are a few atoms and molecules in each cubic metre.

I will try to explain why I think this is relevant. It takes energy to make a vacuum on Earth and energy to pressurise a container as you will know if you have pumped up a tyre and felt the heat on the pump. But this is because one is at a lower pressure and one at a higher pressure than our planet. We exist in the middle zone and the reason we have any pressure is because we have an atmosphere kept here by gravity. Gravity is a major force in space and only by spotting that there is some invisible form of gravity pulling light and constellations one way or another have they concluded there is ‘dark’ matter and energy. It takes a huge amount of energy to create a lump big enough to exert gravity. But there is also another force. The universe is accelerating outwards as if from an explosion, the big bang that started this. That is pushing against any gravitational force. Light or radiation is another force but collectively these massive forces of light and gravity are a fraction of the ‘dark’ energy.

You can put yourself under pressure – to succeed in life for example. You

need energy to achieve this, even to be different and at a different pressure to those around you. If you want ‘enlightenment’ you need a vast amount of energy to counter the gravitational pull of your peers. Some of us use what might be called tantric energy which is very powerful and quite occult. You also need energy to see the hidden energy that runs our world, and which formed it. Just as scientists cannot see dark matter and dark energy nor can they understand or trust in clairvoyance. The fact that it obviously exists can be seen in the vast pull it has exerted. Every religion has resulted from it and every culture and empire has resulted from that. To deny the unseen force shows science to be in its infancy as the article a few days ago here on paradigm shift suggests. Science definitely does not see or understand 96% of what there is but our scientists think they do.

Many diseases are considered occult or hidden. Corruption is very often hidden too. Crime seldom advertises its presence. These days we have ‘nominee shareholders’. That means we do not know who really own the shares that run the corporations and appoint their managers. There are also layers of ‘front’ corporations which are allowed to own shares in other corporations. Certainly we know that organised crime is raking in a vast fortune every year. Over a billion just in tiny Scotland. This money has to be invested. But if you try to find an estimate of how much the crime syndicates now own you will not find the figure. It is hidden along with where it is and who controls it. Trillions. Unlike nations which mostly are in debt. People own the bonds that provide loans to our governments, but what people? Occult people.

But at the same time we have to understand that this is how the world operates and how it is supported. We might not like the idea and that is one reason it is not forced upon us but kept concealed. Criminals these days own many legitimate concerns too. And they are extremely powerful. The difference between what we call a criminal and a law abiding entity is that one breaks the law and one does not. But in many ways they make the laws. When the banks caused the last financial crash we bailed them out. The pundits on television never explain where all the money went but we are still paying for it. However had we not done this the world would have been bankrupted, trade would have ground to a halt, hospitals would have collapsed, teachers would not have been paid, there would have been no food in the shops. Then law and order would have been threatened and martial law invoked.

So an important lesson for us is what we see as stability. Here is a tyre that has been pressurised. It is a vast tyre and a massive amount of energy, much of it dark, has been used to make this. But it is vulnerable. One pin prick can let the air out and only a tiny amount of energy is required to puncture it. In our lives we can put all our energy into making us what we are but one mistake can ruin us. A criminal conviction for example. We lose our job, our freedom, our home and often our family, perhaps our life.

There is little point investigating the dark energy but we have to recognise that we are founded on it. The Roman Empire made our western world and many of its laws. Much about Rome was very impressive and ingenious, but it was also very corrupt. If we consider it a democracy we are deluding ourselves. But it did care for its citizens first, after caring for its aristocrats. It did this by enslaving entire populations and exploiting other nations. We might like to think we have changed but we have not changed very much. The basic structure of our civilization goes back to Ancient Egypt. That was very similar, as was Ancient Greece. This is the planet on which we must scrape a living. This is what it is like. If we have continuous peace, great health care, live longer, get enough food and water then we will over populate the planet in a very short time. We are doing that anyway. It sounds great to have peace and live longer but our fertility levels decrease sharply to compensate. Natural disaster then begins to threaten us. These things are all inter related. There may be alternatives but when you have a million aphids on one plant that plant dies. So does the planet, or at least for a while.

Dark energy includes ‘karma’. This is the greatest power of all along with reality but neither can be observed by scientists it seems. I am a child scientist. I did experiments as a child and remember them now. One was how fizzy drinks became flat in warm weather when not kept in a pressurised container. That is to say they went flat in a drinking glass but not in the bottle. If one heated them the gas (carbon dioxide) was immediately expelled. Our neighbours had a machine for making fizzy drinks and using this were able to push the gas from cartridges into the drink. Today I read that our excessive carbon dioxide emissions have been absorbed by the oceans making them fizzy, or a bit acidic. The fizzy drink is carbonic acid. But suddenly they find that the acidic oceans, which are dissolving shellfish at an alarming rate and killing the plankton on which we depend for half our oxygen, are now beginning to emit the carbon dioxide. No wonder – the oceans are warming. It is the opposite of the fizzy drink machine now and becoming the glass of pop going flat in the sun. May I point out that this vast transfer of dangerous gas (dangerous to animal life) is happening in an occult way. We merely see the effects – dying oceans and now the most alarming spike in CO2 ever seen here. This spike accompanied every mass extinction (5 of them) although it is bigger now. Our scientists cannot see the karma. But then they are not paid to. We have dug up most of our fossil fuels over the last couple of centuries, burned them along with much of our forest. Did we really think that would end well? What sort of scientists do we have advising our governments? Why have our governments withdrawn support for solar panels – we had a grant for installing them on our houses and a good price for selling the surplus electricity. Why do they turn off the wind power when the electric grid is full? Why dont they turn off the gas guzzling generators first? Why do they want to frack Europe rather than allow more wind farms? Why do they insist that nuclear energy is clean? The answers to these questions are arrived at in a hidden way. Dark energy indeed. Meanwhile our environmentalists who worry so about these things ‘appear’ to be deranged.

We can cope with a little corruption. We can cope with occasional wars and famine but if we have major nuclear wars we cannot cope. When our economic systems collapse we have famine in our cities. When corruption is the norm and is uncontrolled the economic system fails. In our own small lives if we borrow too much and cannot keep up the repayments we lose our homes. That happens on the grand scale too. We can print money, pretend we are able to pay back our creditors while borrowing more but one day it all collapses. Empires collapse. They depend on their armies but the armies depend on getting paid and ensuring that their families are safe. Armies often take over empires. Rome had a very strong rule that no army could cross the River Rubicon. That was to ensure that the army did not take over the city and its government. Julius Caesar however took his army over and became dictator in the eyes of the government. They killed him but it was too late. Then came a line of emperors, increasingly corrupt, and martial law. This is what happens at the end of empires. There is a natural law or process involved but not one we can see, only its effect.

The universe is the same. It is founded on certain principles. There is only so much energy, so much matter. A puncture in our atmosphere will see us lose it. That was what the ozone hole threatened some decades ago. Too much heat increases the pressure. Certain gases cause that to happen. The ice caps melt. They do this every now and then which results in a shrinking land mass and more floods. Stability is a balancing act and if you cannot see the principles that underpin this, if you have more pressing needs and cross the Rubicon to patch up a failing system – then chaos results. It often has and always will. You have to be able to see the problem.

In our tribes the father is usually the head of the family. When he is too old his son may take over and put him in an old person’s home. These men are not always the best people to rule the families. Some gamble away the household money, some drink and are violent and abusive. They may expect their wives and children to work to keep them. Their actions may lead to homelessness. If all goes well for a family they will see the children educated and cared for, there will be food in the cupboard, money saved for emergencies and even some enjoyment, happiness in the home. But less and less families find that to be the case. These men may cause neighbour disputes, or get into trouble with the law. It is a common failing for men overwhelmed with debt to lie to their families and even to walk out on them when all falls down. In my work with vulnerable families, homelessness and poverty I usually found that the whole nightmare could have been avoided. The same was true with abused children. Abuse can be prevented if it is visible but its effect is visible and yet still unseen because so many involved are in denial of the obvious. Well this is true of countries and empires too. Lies compound the problem and prevent any remedial actions in time. Men are weak! But so often I have found that the women allowed this all to happen, pretending to themselves that it would be all right in the end. Believed the lies in spite of the evidence of their own eyes. That seems to be the role of our massive media.

This is the world of dark energy. It has a vast effect but cannot be seen. What is seen though is what happens as a result of it. You need your eyes open about everything around you from the micro level to the heavens above you. Our world needs leaders who can see, who do not lie, who are prepared to take remedial action in time and who are not abusive and violent. But at the same time we have to cope with this ever expanding population which is unsustainable and is a major reason for all the problems crashing down on our heads. There is a theory now that we do not have enough children to look after our elderly and we need more! Many families think that the bigger the family the greater its income. the greater its potency. A big political worry is that we will not be able to pay the pensions of the old because not enough young people are there to do that. They are extending the retirement age and cutting pensions but what we are seeing is that our living longer carries a mighty cost. At the same time on our farms we are killing animals at a younger and younger age. People want to eat lamb not mutton. Cattle are killed younger, before they display any signs of disease. Many are too heavy now for their legs. So are many people. One of our problems is that nature has always relied on the survival of the fittest and breeding rights have always been reserved for the fittest. To humans now that seems cruel, but no more cruel that relying on the survival of the richest which causes empires to collapse. Or the breeding of the fattest cattle. Look at the dark energy and try to understand what is happening to us. If we change the structure we lose our stability. This is what has happened to every empire and great family.

Of course we can change but we need to be honest and watch carefully. This is how experiments are done, or used to be done. You try something on a small scale first. But for one reason or another (ie money) we are abandoning all caution in our haste. We are also abandoning many of the other species here, while our nations are abandoning many of the other nations and many in their own populations. That creates a dark energy that for us is destructive. It is karmic. Using that word immediately causes our scientific establishment to dismiss anything else associated with it. But in our ancient and longer lived empires fate was respected and great care taken to avoid problems with it. Experts were consulted on it all the time. Even so emperors eventually ignored it along with the warnings they received and took their empires over the cliff.

But really this is about you. We are modern humans and have a yawning gap where our ‘after death’ existence is concerned, our individual karmic bill and our enlightenment. This is the only level at which humanity can be saved. Just because we are being swept along a rushing river to the falls and are quite unable to do anything to prevent that does not mean that we should abandon all hope and do nothing. This is exactly when we need as many as possible to be aware and looking out for any means by which we can rescue our species and nature itself. We are capable of that if we work on ourselves and have understanding and compassion for the reasons that we are now in such peril. It is not something we can blame anyone for because the dark energy, that 95% we cannot see, is making this all happen at once and until we can see the reality, the whole picture all we can do is speed to our collective doom.

Enlightenment is possible, but it is unpopular and derided as a science. In fact it is the real science, the knowledge of what is hidden and governs us in life and death.

In looking at what temples are and what they are supposed to do it makes sense to look at the first of them, as far as we know. This is on the Turkish side of the border with Syria on a small hill top and mysterious site used over around 2000 years and predating the first Egyptian megalithic building by 7000 years. Stonehenge may date back to 3500BC. Around 8000BC the entire site was buried in rubble, flint arrow heads and animal bones for reasons that are unclear. It is called Gobekli Tepe .

We might not expect much from our ancestors of 12000 years ago but should be stunned at what they achieved here. There were in the first stage around 200 T shaped pillars with various animals and pictograms magnificently carved in relief. Each pillar it is thought represents a human as some have loin cloths carved on them and arms. Although surrounded by a desolate stone landscape now, back then it was in a forest. In fact it was in a place where the first cultivated wheat strain emerged and the land around the site has been continuously cultivated ever since.

There seem to be 20 circles with thick walls and these pillars, and in the centre 2 larger pillars facing each other. The floor was composed of burned limestone, possibly polished. There may have been roofing over these circles. You may need to have a look:

And an article with photographs here:

Carving in relief is difficult. So is moving 20 ton boulders, smoothing them down and carefully inserting them in holes cut out of bedrock. (I have had enough trouble setting up two wooden posts I bought to hold my new garden gate and they are not straight). There are stone benches in the circles for seating. These were not houses. If there are graves they have not been found but there does seem some link with either ancestor worship or ’sky burial’ as many of the carvings show vultures. One curious fact is that over the years the older pillars were buried and new ones were inserted.

I will not go much further into speculating about this place but it seems to be our oldest temple by thousands of years. Just a across the border there is a full scale war taking place. Who knows how many other temples were buried from that time? Or why there is no rush to excavate the first found. Stonehenge is quite crude by comparison, the stones are not carved in relief with any symbols. At the time Gobekli was constructed there were no metal tools. They used flints on the hard limestone. At least the Egyptians had copper chisels. The next oldest finely carved temple may be the underground complex:

But this is from 3600BC.

Then we have an explosion of temple building in Egypt and across the Middle East to India. Some of these temples were built for the dead, some for deities. Here you can see a winged lion in a temple in Syria dating around 900BC

I have put that here because this is the time we are told that the first Temple of Solomon was built somewhere in Jerusalem on what appears to be a Phoenician design and which by all accounts had winged ‘Cherubims’ in its sanctuary. There is some doubt whether there was a temple built then, it is yet to be found and no archaeology is allowed where they think it may be. But it is this temple that has inspired so many others and is now so important, and it is this temple I wish to discuss – or at least the spiritual temple on which it is based.

“According to the Hebrew Bible, Solomon’s Temple, also known as the First Temple, was the Holy Temple (Hebrew: בֵּית־הַמִּקְדָּשׁ‎‎: Beit HaMikdash) in ancient Jerusalem before its destruction by Nebuchadnezzar II after the Siege of Jerusalem of 587 BCE and its subsequent replacement with the Second Temple in the 6th century BCE.

The Hebrew Bible states that the temple was constructed under Solomon, king of the United Kingdom of Israel and Judah and that during the Kingdom of Judah, the temple was dedicated to Yahweh, and is said to have housed the Ark of the Covenant. Jewish historian Josephus says that “the temple was burnt four hundred and seventy years, six months, and ten days after it was built”, although rabbinic sources state that the First Temple stood for 410 years and, based on the 2nd-century work Seder Olam Rabbah, place construction in 832 BCE and destruction in 422 BCE, 165 years later than secular estimates.

Because of the religious sensitivities involved, and the politically volatile situation in Jerusalem, only limited archaeological surveys of the Temple Mount have been conducted. No archaeological excavations have been allowed on the Temple Mount during modern times. Therefore, there are very few pieces of archaeological evidence for the existence of Solomon’s Temple. An Ivory pomegranate which mentions priests in the house “of —h”, and an inscription recording the Temple’s restoration under Jehoash have both appeared on the antiquities market, but their authenticity has been challenged and they are the subject of controversy.” Wikipedia

It does not matter which temple we look at really. They all served a spiritual purpose whether it was a cult of the dead or for some god or goddess. At its most basic level these great architectural works were designed as a home for spirits, and I would say were intended to allow a spiritual place to meet up with a physical one. In them you will find water, even sacred pools or lakes. You may find fires tended, or lamps or candles burning. There may be clouds on incense, statues that are considered to hold spirits, symbols, texts, stained glass, gold and silver implements. Not to mention the unfortunate human habit of sacrificing animals and people in some of them and pouring or sprinkling their blood around them. Some are vast, almost mountains and some are tiny little caves with sacred artwork on the walls from the earliest times (up to 40000 years ago).

I have written about Solomon elsewhere here. For a wealthy and powerful king in the Middle East around 950BC there is a complete absence of evidence. The other kings in that area were recorded in contemporary records in the surrounding countries but there is no mention of a Solomon in the many records available, only in the bible scripture written centuries later. I will try to explain why.

The name Solomon is an anglicised one anyway but so is what it is based upon – a character called the Son of Man by us (Binadam in the scripture) and found in a book, or collection of scripts called the Book of Enoch. This book of prophecy was at one time kept with the New Testament although it is older. It was written between 300BC and 100BC, that is at least 100 years before Jesus who is said to have used the term and is considered by many to be the ‘Son of Man’. A careful look in the New Testament will show that not to be the case or at least that is not what he is recorded as having said.

In the spirit world time is very different. Our time now is well attested and always has been. We are in the ‘latter days’. And the prophecy about this Son of Man is for this time. It is the basis of many messiah cults, maitreyas, mahdis etc. Some call him the second Adam as the name Binadam suggests. We could call him the ‘spirit of mankind’ which is much closer to the real interpretation. Anyway you will find portrayals of this spirit in many temples where they are allowed. Many have claimed to be him, often we have thought we were in the latter days (‘the end is nigh’ is an ancient slogan). In India he is Shiva. In other places the second coming. He is also ‘Solomon’.

The Gobekli temple is just one that offered a home to the spirits of the dead and also this mysterious character that spirits have always spoken about to those who can communicate with them. If the role of a temple or sacred space is to offer a home, or temporary one, to a spiritual place then the role of a priest or priestess is to offer a temporary physical body to a spirit. Any number of people have offered this to the one we call the Son of Man, encouraging possession. Probably many more have pretended to be him for more political reasons. But those who were sincere mediums and were temporary homes are sometimes called the ‘league of Hermes’. There is a very long line of them going so far back it is impossible to see the end. And through this line comes prophecy, even communication with our own time.

Mediums are not perfect and clairvoyance is not a perfect art. But both do allow some communication with the spiritual world. So does sleep and meditation. However we are plagued with illusion in our material world and for every genuine medium there are many more who range from well meaning but deluded people to outright charlatans. What we can do though is look ourselves at our history, and our spiritual history and places, and grab a sense of what is behind all of this. Why we have religions, why we honour the dead. The danger is always obsession, and asserting that one particular thread is the whole carpet, all other threads are not.

Most of our churches offer space to the spiritual temple of Solomon. So do the Freemason squares, so do many magicians’ rituals. Pagan gatherings are just as likely to be doing this as the most ornate cathedrals. It is why I maintain that a summer solstice festival in Somerset in 1971 succeeded where many others have failed. But all of those that succeed are linked to a timeless entity. They are visited by spirits that existed long ago and are yet to come. This is the hidden dimension in all of us if we develop it and seek it. But you need clairvoyance to see it, hear it or feel it. And that is why I encourage all to develop that art rather than perhaps only to develop muscles for more physical exertions. Never become obsessed and only allow this state which has to be deemed ‘possession’ on your own terms. Stay in charge, do not take orders from those you invite into your house. Never, ever behave in an anti-social way because of this. You do not know the spirits. Sacrifice of any kind is abhorrent to those we would want to meet. Murder of any kind is against our law. They are gentle beings attracted to gentle beings. The ‘angra mainyu’ as some angry spirits are called are attracted by and to warmongers and threaten us all. So be intelligent and be careful. Enlightenment is possible in every life but any obsession makes it impossible to see the whole which is what it is.

I have encountered this temple in many places in my life. It comes and it goes. There is no need to try to hold onto it. We do not eat all day and all night. What will make you special as a human is the ability to house and communicate with the spiritual. But it comes slowly and can end abruptly. It loves innocence and loathes those that seek to use it. I put bird food out every day. The birds love it and visit my garden. I do not have nets to catch them. It is freely given for the moments we come together. If they do not come they do not come. I will still try the next day. It is not a duty or a chore. It is not to impress others, nor even to impress the birds. I wonder how long humans have put out food and water for our other wonderful species, to befriend and to meet them, not to eat them. I wonder how long they have done this with the spirits. I am in my latter days but these are the things that mean the most to me. I have had to work to keep myself and my family. I have had struggles like everyone else. I have had delusions like everyone else too. But without my spiritual life I would feel half the man. It often seems to me that I have more friends there than here, and it is a sentiment that many older people have confided to me over the years. Our balance shifts and one day we are all over there and just a memory remains fleetingly of us over here, sometimes preserved by those we leave behind.

We can identify ourselves in many ways but underpinning most will be the fact that we are families, tribes and a species. There may be huge differences between us culturally but genetically the differences are tiny and we should not be surprised as every flower is different. If we go back far enough we find that we all have a common ancestor and if so we can liken our family to a tree. Family trees have been depicted since antiquity and the largest is said to be that of Confucius which shows 80 generations and has 2 million living descendants (I would suggest that there are many more in fact). It is not so much an analogy but a fact if we look at our tribe in a particular way. We are but a generation of leaves blossoms, seeds on an old tree that has produced billions of us and continues to do so. That its days are numbered is most unfortunate but something that happens to all trees.

I mention the family tree because today am looking at the core of Egyptian religion and magic and as in so many other cultures we find a tree. The Nordic religion had a world tree called Yggdrasil, and most cultures have a tree or a pillar which is the same. We still have people dancing round Maypoles if rather less that we once did. The tree is representative of fertility, the life death cycle, rebirth and much else but for now try to think of it as the human tree and something we although a fleeting part of might wish to be able to contact, to know and be known by.

In Egypt this tree is called the Djed pillar. It looks like a tree with four branches at the top sticking out at both sides. There were over the course of Egyptian history such pillars made and used in rituals much like the Maypole. People wore them round their necks as charms. Raising the Djed, that is pulling the pillar upright, was a central part of all of this and considered very significant. In Tibet you will still see many monks and people pulling upright a big prayer flag mast at the foot of the sacred Mount Kailash. And if we look inside the Great Pyramid we will find that there is a central chamber and above it a number of vast stones considered to relieve the massive pressure upon it from the weight above. But if we look at the structure as an architect would have we see the Djed pillar at its heart. Djed is given the meaning ‘stability’.

We have to look at very late tales of many of the original myths, usually recorded for us by the Greeks thousands of years later and sadly the tales take a life of their own over the millennia but a very interesting one certainly ties the djed to the family tree. The myth as recorded was that after the king Osiris was lured into a snug fitting, bejewelled casket to try it our for size he was locked into it by a group of elders led by Sutekh who threw it into the Nile. This river carried it out to sea and hence to Byblos in Lebanon where some magic tree grew around it and ended up being used as a pillar in the palace there. Isis eventually found it, opened it up and in some way revived the corpse so that she was able to conceive the child Horus. I would say that the story is one which tells us that the Lebanese monarchy at an early time was considered to be the direct line, the family tree that sprang from or included the Egyptian king we know as Osiris. Even the British monarchy has at times claimed direct descent from some divine line, it is what monarchies do. The pharaohs certainly did.

But we need to go back to the two dynasties that pioneered the pyramids to find out a bit more of what is behind the myth. At approximately 2600BC what we call the Old Kingdom started in Egypt. As far as the Egyptians were concerned this was the beginning of the Third Dynasty and the looked much further back to the first pharaohs of the First Dynasty and the many kings before them. But the Third Dynasty is a good place to start because the first king in that was Djoser ably assisted by his sage and architect Imhotep. There is no doubt both existed and between them they built what is called the Step Pyramid, a massive engineering feat that is still standing. 75 years later a new Dynasty began and this was the age of the Great Pyramid and most of the other massive pyramids. Khufu (often called Cheops) was the pharaoh for whom the Great Pyramid was built possibly by his son Djedefre, whose own perfect pyramid overlooking it from a hilltop has been levelled over thousands of years by caravans taking the excellent stone for building projects in Cairo. In Giza we now see the three vast pyramids of Khufu, Khafre (son of Khufu who succeeded Djedefre) and Menkaure (Khufu‘s grandson and son of Khafre). But Khufu also had another son called Djedi. Or that is what we have gleaned from the tomb inscriptions which are con temporary and much more reliable than stories handed down for 2600 years.

Which brings us to one of the most famous tales in all Egyptian history the meeting of Khufu and the magician Djedi. This tale was preserved in the Westcar papyrus and was written perhaps around 1800BC during one of the Intermediate periods when the Hyksos tribe had taken over the throne. The term Hyksos is not specific (literally ‘rulers of foreign lands‘) but they were considered to have come from what are now Syria and Lebanon, a mass immigration perhaps as had been happening with the Canaanites from what we call Palestine and Israel. I mention this because that is when the story was put on the papyrus. There is little doubt however that it was an ancient and well known tale. But before I start on Djedi I will mention the gully-gully men. When I was about 10 I was shown an old film taken by our headmaster when he sailed through Suez in about 1930. It showed the magician who came on board and produced chicken after chicken, at least twenty of them appearing out of nowhere. He did other tricks but that was the one I remember. The late magician Paul Daniels also wrote about seeing this in 1956 and how influential it was on him. Here is another:

“We spent three years in Singapore, and returned by boat. My earliest memory is going through the Suez Canal when an entertainer and magician, known as a Gully Gully Man, came aboard. I remember his long robe. He produced a chicken from behind my ear and I remember going ballistic with terror, and my parents hooting with laughter.”

A lot of people saw this – almost every Briton sailing to the Far East at one time and you will find many reminiscences on the net (gully-gully, hully gully, gale gale etc). But the origin is exceptionally ancient. The bible mentions the Egyptian magicians and tricks they did with snakes. Then a look at what this is really about. I note how similar the phrase ‘raising the djed’ is to ‘raising the dead’ and of course they have a lot in common. Conjuring tricks perhaps.

We are fortunate in knowing that they are tricks. Having had a very good conjuror or magician working on me one to one I have been staggered when he achieved the seemingly impossible. Getting a coin from my pocket into a beer bottle we had just finished when it was much too small to get through the top and would not come out. He showed me later how his coin was cut in half and joined with rubber almost impossible to see, certainly not through the green glass bottle. It bent in half, went in and popped back into full size. That might have kept me wondering for many years as have some of the other things he showed me.

The ancients did not know they were tricks, they thought they were miracles or magic. And those able to perform them were very highly regarded. Almost every court had one, the jester. It is one of the tarot cards. And these people kept alive something in our societies but based on falsehood. It goes way back even before Egypt to the conjuring of fire.

Here is the tale of Djedi (whose name is spelled in Egyptian with 2 Djed pillars and a reed):

“According to the Westcar Papyrus, prince Djedefhor (one of Khufu’s sons whose sarcophagus is in Cairo Museum) brings up the story of Dedi. He stands before his father, king Khufu, and says: “There is only speaking of miracles which happened a long time ago, something known by past generations only. Truth and falsehood cannot be distinguished here. But there is someone under thy majesty´s own lifetime who is not known, someone who is able to make a ignoramus become wise.” Khufu asks: “What’s the meaning of this, Djedefhor, my son?” Djedefhor answers: “There’s a commoner named Dedi, living in Djed-Sneferu. (rattuos: Sneferu was the first pharaoh of the 4th Dynasty who had at least two grand pyramids to his name – the ‘Bent’ pyramid and the ‘Red’ pyramid. He was the father of Khufu and had a long reign) He’s a simple citizen, but 110 years old, eats 500 loaves of bread, a shoulder of beef and drinks 100 jars of beer every day. He is capable of resurrecting decapitated beings. He is also said to be able to make wild lions so obedient that the animal would follow him with a cord dragging on the ground. Furthermore, this Dedi has knowledge of the number* of Iput in the wenetsanctuary of Thoth.” The pharaoh spent a good deal of time to seek for these chambers, for he planned to build something similar to his horizon. And Khufu orders: “You thyself, Djedefhor, my son, may bring him to me!”

And so Djedefhor arranges his journey during the first month of the schemu-season and travels to Djed-Sneferu. He finds Dedi and invites the old man to the king’s palace with the words: “Your condition is equal to someone who lives from aging and to someone who sleeps until dawn, free of illness and wheezing. For ‘aging’ is the time of dying, the time of the preparing the burial and the time of being buried. This is the questioning about the condition of a noble man. I have come to summon you in order of my father, justified, that you may eat from the delicacies my father gives, the food of his followers. And then he may guide you to the ancestors which are in the necropolis now.” Dedi replies: “Welcome, welcome, Djedefhor, son of the king, beloved of his father! May you be praised by your father, Khufu the justified. May he let your place be at the front of all time-honored ones. May thine Ka successfully champion all things against any enemy. May thine Ba know the ways that lead to the gateway of the mummified deceased.” Djedefhor brings Dedi to the harbor and makes a boat prepared for traveling. The old man promises to follow Djedefhor, on the condition that he may bring his books and scholars with him. Djedefhor accepts, and both men travel to Khufu’s royal palace.

Djedefhor enters the palace and goes immediately to his father, king Khufu. The prince says: “May thy majesty live, be blessed and being prosperous! I have brought Dedi to you!” Khufu replies: “Go and bring him to me!” Then Khufu takes place in the royal audience-hall. The Pharaoh receives Dedi with the words: “What is it, Dedi, this denying to have seen you ever before?” Dedi answers: “Oh sovereign, my lord! Only the one who is summoned is one who will come. I was summoned, and now see, oh sovereign, my lord, I have come.” The pharaoh continues: “Is it true, this talk-about that you could mend a severed head?” Dedi says: “Yes, oh sovereign, my lord. May you live, be blessed and prosperous. I know how to do that.” Khufu replies: “May a prisoner, who is jailed, be brought to me, so that his execution may be enforced.”. Dedi refuses with the words: “Not to make a human suffer, oh sovereign, my lord! May you live, be blessed and prosperous. You see, it was never allowed to do something like that on the noble flock.” Dedi chooses three animals instead – first a goose. He decapitates the goose and places her head at the eastern side of the audience hall, the body at the western side. Then Dedi utters a secret spell and the head of the goose stands up, starting to waddle. Then the body of the goose stands up and waddles, too. Both body-parts move into equal directions, then melt together. The resurrected goose now leaves the hall cackling. The same performance is done with an undefined water bird and a bull. Both animals are brought successfully back to life, too. Now the king says: “It is said that you know the number* of Iput inside the wenet-sanctuary of Thoth. Now?” Dedi replies: “May you be praised, oh sovereign, my lord! I don’t know their number. But I know where they can be found.” Khufu asks: “Where is it?” Dedi answers: “There is a box of scrolls, made of flint, which is stored in a room called ‘archive’ at Heliopolis.” The king orders: “Take that box!” Dedi replies: “May your highness be prosperous and blessed, I’m not the one who can bring it to you.” Khufu asks: “Who may be the one who could bring it to me?” Dedi answers: “The eldest of the three children in the womb of Rededjet, he will bring it to you.” The king says: “I really wish all these things you say. Who is it, this Rededjet?” Dedi replies: “It’s the wife of a wab-priest of the god Ra, lord of Sachebu. The god has adumbrated, that the eldest of the three shall worship as a high priest of Heliopolis over the whole realm.” The king’s mood becomes grim after this. Dedi asks: “What is that heart of thine, oh sovereign, my lord, becoming so sad! Is it because of the children I have adumbrated? First your son, then his son and then one of them.” Khufu replies: “When will this Rededjet give birth?” Dedi says: “It will happen during the first month of the peret-season, on the fifteenth day.″ Khufu becomes indignant: “But it’s when the canal-of-two-Mugilidae is cut off!? I would even work with my very own hands to enter them! And then I will visit that temple of Ra, lord of Sachebu.” And Dedi says: “Then I will make the waters at the fordable spots of the canal-of-two-Mugilidae become four cubits in height for you.” Khufu stands up and orders: “Have Dedi assigned to a place within the palace of my son Djedefhor where he shall live from now on. His daily gainings be 1000 loaves of bread, 100 jars of beer, one neat and 100 bundles of field garlic.” And all things are done as ordered.

Modern analysis

Historians and Egyptologists such as Adolf Erman and Kurt Heinrich Sethe once thought the tales of Westcar Papyrus were mere folklore. Magical tricks that show animals being decapitated and their heads being replaced were performed as recently as a few decades ago, though today they are rarely shown because of aesthetical and ethical misgivings….” Wikipedia

So is this a lot of fuss about nothing? I will go back 75 years before this was supposed to have happened, back to Imhotep who designed the Step Pyramid. He is ascribed semi-divine powers – a healer, an architect and much more, and like Djedi a ‘commoner‘:

Imhotep (/ɪm’hoʊtɛp/;[1] Egyptian: ỉỉ-m-ḥtp *jā-im-ḥatap, “the one who comes in peace”; fl. late 27th century BC) was an Egyptian chancellor to the pharaoh Djoser, probable architect of the step pyramid, and high priest of the sun god Ra at Heliopolis. Very little is known of Imhotep as a historical figure, but in the 3000 years following his death, he was gradually glorified and deified.

Today, outside of the egyptological community, he is referred to as a polymath, poet, judge, engineer, magician, scribe, astronomer, astrologer, and especially a physician. These claims are founded on the legends that flourished in the millennia after his death, not on historical records. No text from his lifetime mentions these capacities and no text mentions his name in the first 1200 years following his death.

Apart from the three short contemporary inscriptions that establish him as chancellor to the pharaoh, the first text to reference Imhotep dates to the time of Amenhotep III (c. 1391 – 1353 BC). It is addressed to the owner of a tomb, and reads:

The wab-priest may give offerings to your ka. The wab-priests may stretch to you their arms with libations on the soil, as it is done for Imhotep with the remains of the water bowl. (rattuos: The Egyptian scribes always poured out a little water for their patron god Thoth before starting work each day)

— D. Wildung (1977), Egyptian Saints – Deification in Pharaonic Egypt, p. 34.

It appears that this libation to Imhotep was done regularly, as they are attested on papyruses associated to statues of Imhotep until the Late Period (c. 664-332 BC). To Wildung, this cult holds its origin in the slow evolution of the memory of Imhotep among intellectuals from his death onwards. To Alan Gardiner, this cult is so distinct from the offerings usually made to commoners that the epithet of “demi-god” is likely justified to describe the way Imhotep was venerated in the New Kingdom (c. 1550-1077 BC).

The first references to the healing abilities of Imhotep occur from the Thirtieth Dynasty (c. 380-343 BC) onwards, some 2200 years after his death.

He was one of only two commoners ever to be deified after death (the other being Amenhotep, son of Hapu). The center of his cult was in Memphis. The location of Imhotep’s self-built tomb was well hidden from the beginning and it remains unknown, despite efforts to find it. The consensus is that it is hidden somewhere at Saqqara.” Wikipedia

* Mackenzie translates ‘number of chambers in the sanctuary of Thoth’ as ‘secret of the dwelling of Thoth. Khufu is more interested in this that anything which is not really made obvious in then translation above. The story of Djedi makes me think of bilocation. The ‘djed’ is everywhere and Reddjedet is supposedly the mother of the first three kings of the next (5th) Dynasty. Unfortunately Khufu will not be alive when the first king would be able to reveal the secret.

“ How Pharaoh Userkaf founded this dynasty is not known for certain. The Papyrus Westcar, which was written during the Middle Kingdom, tells a story of how king Khufu of Dynasty IV was given a prophecy that triplets born to the wife of the priest of Ra in Sakhbu would overthrow him and his heirs, and how he attempted to put these children – named Userkaf, Sahure, and Neferirkare – to death; however in recent years, scholars have recognized this story to be at best a legend, and admit their ignorance over how the transition from one dynasty to another transpired.” Wikipedia

We had better look at Userkaf but I note that the last (8th) king of the 5th was Djedkare Isesi who was a great reforming pharaoh and the object of a cult that lasted many years. What is most significant about the 5th Dynasty to my mind is the fact some of the pharaohs (not the first three or if they did the texts did not survive/have not been found) had the ‘pyramid texts’ inscribed on the inside walls of their pyramids which preserved them for us in the oldest form we have.

Userkaf (meaning “his soul is strong” or “his Ka (or soul) is powerful”) was the founder of the Fifth dynasty of Egypt and the first pharaoh to start the tradition of building sun temples at Abusir. He ruled from 2494 to 2487 BC and constructed the pyramid of Userkaf complex at Saqqara. Userkaf may have been a grandson of Djedefre by his daughter, Neferhetepes…..

The Sun temple of Userkaf was an Ancient Egyptian temple dedicated to the sun god Ra built by pharaoh Userkaf, the founder of the Fifth Dynasty of Egypt, at the beginning of the 25th century BCE. The sun temple of Userkaf lies between the Abusir pyramid field to the south and the locality of Abu Gurab to the north, some 15 km (9.3 mi) south of modern-day Cairo. The ancient name of the temple was Nekhen-Re meaning the “Stronghold of Ra”. The temple complex comprised several parts: on a low hill situated on the desert edge was the main temple which could be accessed via a causeway from a valley temple, located nearer to the area of cultivation and the Nile.….” Wikipedia

Although used for many years and visited over 1000 years later according to an inscription found this pyramid and its temples were too badly ruined to tell us much about Userkaf. He was followed by Sahure one of the most important kings of the Old Kingdom. Sahure built a pyramid

“….The causeway and mortuary temple of his pyramid complex were once adorned by over 10,000 m2 (110,000 sq ft) of fine reliefs, which made them renowned in antiquity. The architects of Sahure’s pyramid complex introduced the use of palmiform columns (that is columns whose capital has the form of palm leaves), which would soon become a hallmark of ancient Egyptian architecture. Sahure is also known to have constructed a sun temple called “The Field of Ra“, and although it is yet to be located it is presumably in Abusir as well……Trade contacts with Byblos certainly took place during Sahure’s reign and indeed excavations of the temple of Baalat-Gebal yielded an alabaster bowl inscribed with Sahure’s name….” Wikipedia

His funerary cult continued for centuries and a statue of him was made by a much later opharaoh reflecting something not evident now unless it is the Dedi story. The third king was

Neferirkare Kakai was an Ancient Egyptian pharaoh, the third king of the Fifth Dynasty. He succeeded his father Sahure on the throne and was in turn succeeded by his son Neferefre. His praenomen, Neferirkare, means “Beautiful is the Soul of Ra“....From the large size of his mortuary complex at Abusir, he was an important king, but since the Palermo stone fragments after his rule, little is actually known about his reign….Neferirkare’s reign was unusual for the significant number of surviving contemporary records which describe him as a kind and gentle ruler. When Rawer, an elderly nobleman and royal courtier, was accidentally touched by the king’s mace during a religious ceremony—a dangerous situation which could have caused this official’s death or banishment from court since the Pharaoh was viewed as a living God in Old Kingdom mythology—Neferirkare quickly pardoned Rawer and requested that no harm should occur to the latter for the incident. As Rawer gratefully states in an inscription from his Giza tomb:

“Now the priest Rawer in his priestly robes was following the steps of the king in order to conduct the royal costume, when the sceptre in the king’s hand struck the priest Rawer’s foot. The king said, “You are safe”. So the king said, and then, “It is the king’s wish that he be perfectly safe, since I have not struck at him. For he is more worthy before the king than any man.”

Similarly, Neferirkare gave the Priest of Ptah Ptahshepses the unprecedented honor of kissing his feet. Finally, when the Vizier Washptah suffered a stroke while attending court, the king quickly summoned the palace’s chief doctors to treat his dying Vizier. When Weshptah died, Neferirkare was reportedly inconsolable and retired to his personal quarters to mourn the loss of his friend. The king then ordered the purification of Weshptah’s body in his presence and ordered an ebony coffin made for the deceased Vizier. Weshptah was buried with special endowments and rituals courtesy of Neferirkare. The records of the king’s actions are inscribed in Weshptah’s tomb itself and emphasize Neferirkare’s humanity towards his subjects.” Wikipedia

So we do not know much more about the secret of Thoth‘s dwelling (who he is and where and when he lives) even if Userkaf would have been able to tell Khufu who appears to have wanted the poor chap dead. But what is significant about the story is that Djedi having given somebody the impression that he knew the secret clammed up when asked by Khufu and gave him directions to unborn children that the pharaoh could not possible follow. Perhaps one needs to be an Ancient Egyptian to understand what fascinated them about us and our time and of course that ‘field of reeds‘ in the far off (in distance and time) Somerset field overlooked by Glastonbury Tor with its scale model of the Great Pyramid of Khufu.

The Clairvoyant & Enlightened Times

Issue 35 – 27/28 July 2017 – rattuos

I had written most of what I was going to put here today, some tips I was hoping might make clairvoyance and dreaming more accessible but I changed my mind. What I am now thinking about is what I suppose might be deemed prioritising. So for example we might have two neighbours who are angry with each other and embroiled in some domestic argument but when they both see a river of red hot lava streaming towards their houses that takes priority.

In global terms the sight of some massive asteroid heading for Earth might be enough for nations to put aside their disputes to work together. The point is that only when both sides are threatened do they bury the hatchet, temporarily. So we may see a whole part of the world experiencing famine but that does not mean that the well fed side gets involved. If the whole world was in famine’s grip then something would be done. Otherwise at best some token or temporary aid is dispatched subject to political considerations.

So I am not in any way intending to belittle the politics of our world and the difficulties they try to cope with. We may not all be in agreement. Economics are very hard to manage even in our own homes. But faced by the lava flow they can become meaningless. Certainly one of the biggest problems is preventing panic and the anti-social behaviour it can unleash.

I quite often have the TV on during the day and there are numerous films with a similar theme. Some ‘lava flow’ is coming, an asteroid, solar flare, earthquake or whatever. A small group is trying to save us. They encounter criminals trying to stop them or people looting shops. It ends up ok. The repetition is trying to tell us something. It is used to ‘educate’ us. Basically we must trust our leaders to work quietly to keep us safe and not to worry us unduly. I agree. Don’t worry but I only apply that to us, those of us not directly working on global economics and disasters. But to those who are working on these things I urge them to worry and to put aside any differences they have in making things end up ok. They can get back to petty feuds afterwards.

So who are these people? Who do we have who are engaged in this work as opposed to the work of creating hazard after hazard? Who has their beady eye on the environmental dangers we have created and are trying to remedy them? Who has risen above the interests that seem to govern us and ensure that profit comes before safety, or that national interests are served before global ones?

This must be a very difficult time for them and I would include all the world’s intelligence agencies, if not their governments that are limited to much narrower visions. Can you imagine if we did not have some kind of enlightenment at the overriding level? It is not that there is no solution to the dangers and threats as there is. But it is expensive, awkward and hard to implement the solutions in time especially when big business is hell bent on creating more mess than it cleans up.

The enlightened view is that we can be saved by making small adjustments. Adjustments that the populations would barely notice as they go through their lives. We all change, we all adapt. But if our parents do not break their heroin addiction we their children have our work cut out to survive unscathed. And breaking addiction is about the hardest thing a human can do.

Of course the same is true with ourselves, our individual crisis. We need some leadership that is removed and above all our petty, domestic squabbling and even above our more serious encounters. One that is aware of the real problem facing us, which comes after we die. And that one in us the Egyptians called the spirit ‘ka‘. I consider it to be us just before we die, the one who knows all about us and how we can end up ok. If we listen to its advice

Ancient Egypt survived a few catastrophes over its existence between 4000BC and 300BC. These are called ‘intermediate’ periods. We do not know that much about them because there was a cessation of normal recording and activity but we can estimate what was going on. Certainly this is a lesson for us now:

“The First Intermediate Period, often described as a “dark period” in ancient Egyptian history, spanned approximately one hundred and twenty-five years, from c. 2181–2055 BC, after the end of the Old Kingdom. It included the seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, and part of the eleventh dynasties. Very little monumental evidence survives from this period, especially towards the beginning of the era. The First Intermediate Period was a dynamic time in history where rule of Egypt was roughly divided between two competing power bases. One of those bases resided at Heracleopolis in Lower Egypt, a city just south of the Faiyum region. The other resided at Thebes in Upper Egypt. It is believed that during this time, the temples were pillaged and violated, their existing artwork was vandalized, and the statues of kings were broken or destroyed as a result of this alleged political chaos…..

The Second Intermediate Period marks a period when Ancient Egypt fell into disarray for a second time, between the end of the Middle Kingdom and the start of the New Kingdom.

It is best known as the period when the Hyksos made their appearance in Egypt and whose reign comprised the Fifteenth dynasty

The Twelfth Dynasty of Egypt came to an end at the end of the 19th century BC with the death of Queen Sobekneferu (1806–1802 BC). Apparently she had no heirs, causing the twelfth dynasty to come to a sudden end, and, with it, the Golden Age of the Middle Kingdom; it was succeeded by the much weaker Thirteenth Dynasty. Retaining the seat of the twelfth dynasty, the thirteenth dynasty ruled from Itjtawy (“Seizer-of-the-Two-Lands”) near Memphis and Lisht, just south of the apex of the Nile Delta….

The Third Intermediate Period of Ancient Egypt began with the death of Pharaoh Ramesses XI in 1070 BC, ending the New Kingdom, and was eventually followed by the Late Period. Various points are offered as the beginning for the latter era, though it is most often regarded as dating from the foundation of the Twenty-Sixth Dynasty by Psamtik I in 664 BC, following the expulsion of the Nubian rulers of the Twenty-Fifth Dynasty by the Assyrians under King Assurbanipal.

The period was one of decline and political instability, coinciding with the Late Bronze Age collapse of civilizations in the Near East and Eastern Mediterranean (including the Greek Dark Ages). ….” Wikipedia

Some people equate these difficult times with natural disasters like the eruption of the volcano on Thera and the resulting tsunamis. Some contemporary writings speak of famine, a darkened sun even the stars not following their normal course which makes one consider pole reversal if the tales are genuine.

I do not want to depress you and the following Wikipedia extracts are difficult but they are just a small example of what has to be done at a planetary, supra national level. Our intelligence agencies can make things happen if they wish and can even put overbearing pressure on our governments. That is why they needed the brightest minds and tentacles at every important level of humanity and its sciences. Their computing ability gives them this predictive enlightenment but just as it is a struggle for us, bogged down in our daily lives and reluctant to listen to the warning tones of our spirit, so it is difficult for them. But we must rely on them and their judgement as individually we can do nothing for the global level but offer our support and hope it ends up ok.

I remember when I lived in North London how some worried about nuclear waste being transported on the North London railway line. What happens if the train crashes? Well transport of this stuff is perilous. We could dump it on the moon is we could be sure the rockets carrying it would not crash or explode on ascent. But some do and just one failing would pollute the entire planet. If we had a vast central reprocessing plant where for example the stuff could be broken down into small pieces, encased in special glass and stored in massive corrosion free containers to put deep underground, nowhere near the water table and safe from earthquake, tsunami, flood etc – well we would still need to transport it there from all the places where it is now. It is achievable but ‘terrorism’ makes it even more fraught with problems and so do the worries, and in some cases anger, of communities through which it must pass or where it may reside. But doing nothing does not help and secretly dumping it at sea as an unscrupulous corporation linked to organised crime is said to have done makes the problem far, far worse. Even this I liken to our own individual situation if we do not seek justification for our lives and some degree of enlightenment. We are selfish and foolish. We need to change as fast as possible to become selfless and wise:

High-level waste (HLW) is produced by nuclear reactors. The exact definition of HLW differs internationally. After a nuclear fuel rod serves one fuel cycle and is removed from the core, it is considered HLW. Fuel rods contain fission products and transuranic elements generated in the reactor core. Spent fuel is highly radioactive and often hot. HLW accounts for over 95 percent of the total radioactivity produced in the process of nuclear electricity generation. The amount of HLW worldwide is currently increasing by about 12,000 metric tons every year, which is the equivalent to about 100 double-decker buses or a two-story structure with a footprint the size of a basketball court. A 1000-MW nuclear power plant produces about 27 tonnes of spent nuclear fuel (unreprocessed) every year. In 2010, there was very roughly estimated to be stored some 250,000 tons of nuclear HLW, that does not include amounts that have escaped into the environment from accidents or tests. Japan estimated to hold 17,000 tons of HLW in storage in 2015. HLW have been shipped to other countries to be stored or reprocessed, and in some cases, shipped back as active fuel…..

Due to historic activities typically related to radium industry, uranium mining, and military programs, numerous sites contain or are contaminated with radioactivity. In the United States alone, the Department of Energy states there are “millions of gallons of radioactive waste” as well as “thousands of tons of spent nuclear fuel and material” and also “huge quantities of contaminated soil and water.”….

The back-end of the nuclear fuel cycle, mostly spent fuel rods, contains fission products that emit beta and gamma radiation, and actinides that emit alpha particles, such as uranium-234 (half-life 245 thousand years), neptunium-237 (2.144 million years), plutonium-238 (87.7 years) and americium-241 (432 years), and even sometimes some neutron emitters such as californium (half-life of 898 years for Cf-251). These isotopes are formed in nuclear reactors…..” Wikipedia

I have written here how the tale of Atlantis that Plato maintains came from Egypt was originally a prophecy about us. At some point it was deemed to be the history of a more ancient civilization but there wasn’t one.

Atlantis (Ancient Greek: Ἀτλαντὶς νῆσος, “island of Atlas“) is a fictional island mentioned within an allegory on the hubris of nations in Plato‘s works Timaeus and Critias, where it represents the antagonist naval power that besieges “Ancient Athens”, the pseudo-historic embodiment of Plato’s ideal state (see The Republic). In the story, Athens repels the Atlantean attack unlike any other nation of the (western) known world, supposedly giving testament to the superiority of Plato’s concept of a state. At the end of the story, Atlantis eventually falls out of favor with the gods and submerges into the Atlantic Ocean

….Plato introduced Atlantis in Timaeus:

For it is related in our records how once upon a time your State stayed the course of a mighty host, which, starting from a distant point in the Atlantic ocean, was insolently advancing to attack the whole of Europe, and Asia to boot. For the ocean there was at that time navigable; for in front of the mouth which you Greeks call, as you say, ‘the pillars of Heracles,’ there lay an island which was larger than Libya and Asia together; and it was possible for the travellers of that time to cross from it to the other islands, and from the islands to the whole of the continent over against them which encompasses that veritable ocean. For all that we have here, lying within the mouth of which we speak, is evidently a haven having a narrow entrance; but that yonder is a real ocean, and the land surrounding it may most rightly be called, in the fullest and truest sense, a continent. Now in this island of Atlantis there existed a confederation of kings, of great and marvellous power, which held sway over all the island, and over many other islands also and parts of the continent.” Wikipedia

That ‘island’ is most likely our western civilization – America and Britain specifically, possibly our Nato alliance, although the problem is certainly not confined to them and is a global issue for all the major nations. But whatever Plato had heard had come through many generations and the story had been embroidered by most of them. The origin was a simple worry about what our highly advanced technological world is coming to and concern that wisdom might not win the day. Let us hope that it does and that Intelligence uses its mighty power, a power that was given to it intentionally to save us, so that it really does end up ok.

Yesterday I read the word ‘omnicide’ for the first time. We are in a period of mass extinction. Many other species have suffered this already, most populations have been decimated. We are on the list too. But this extinction unlike previous ones has numerous causes coinciding with each other. Everyone that is not entirely blind knows what most of them are – death by a thousand cuts. An elite now openly called insane, unable or unwilling to recognise and reverse the damage it has done. Judgement has been passed and it is too dreadful to mention here. No one responsible for this can hide from what is coming to them and their poor ancestors who must pay the price with their evil descendants. Even our media that has hidden so much so well will be held to account. All of us need to be aware that this is a time to do good works. How fortunate are our teachers and nurses, our firemen and paramedics. All those who work tirelessly for the benefit of our world, our kind and Nature. It is not a time for revolution or anger. The anger is in the spirit world directed at those who have destroyed the priceless jewel in the crown of our solar system, our galaxy and our universe and who have done this within my lifetime for the most hideous reasons. Omnicide! They have killed us all for profit, for some competitive advantage, for their personal or national security at the expense of all. Enlightenment is unbearable when this is what is shown to you.

The Clairvoyant & Enlightened Times

Issue 34 – 21 July 2017 – rattuos

Until this thing called a paradigm shift is finally over and results in general acceptance of what we call enlightenment the war between ignorance and truth must continue. It has been waged for thousands of years and killed many of our brightest humans while rewarding some of the most evil. One extraordinary fact about this is that according to some thinkers, although the forces of ignorance are used and maximised, the actual leaders are not ignorant at all. They know very well what the truth is, the reality and go to extraordinary lengths to conceal it.

This is scarcely a new concept as it has been considered since the first tales of fallen angels over two thousand years ago, or the biblical demons who are revealed as intelligent and using the human. We have had many dictators who have kept their populations in ignorance, and religious leaders too. We have scientists who are employed to conjure up papers to support corporate interests. We have think tanks set up by any number of lobbies to conjure up predictions that help their funders. We have a media owned by corporate interests that has learned that continuous repetition of a lie leads to general acceptance of it and that a collective refusal to publish facts effectively conceals them. We have politicians who are divorced from independent thought and forced to tow a party line. And we have fewer and fewer prominent minds prepared to stand in front of this behemoth knowing it will run them down, ruin them and ruin their families.

What is extraordinary is how intelligent and well informed people can act like this. Most politicians have good degrees and are informed by a vast array of intelligence services. Climate change is an obvious case. There is ostensibly a fight between scientists who support the possibility that our climate is changing due to human interventions that could be reversed and scientists who ridicule the very idea. This has enabled politicians to dither, or to appear to dither, and not to put into law the actions that might save the planet and its species. You have to take your pick which side you trust. Perhaps you work in an industry that requires you to strip the forests of their timber and see keeping your job as more important than the mere possibility it will lead to our extinction. But if you decide that we need to ban carbon fuel burning immediately you know very well we will not and that there is almost nothing you can say that will change that. 90% of the world could say that and it still would not happen. But the very notion of climate change is helping to conceal the reality. It is quite possible to dispute climate change and why it is changing by one or two degrees, what it will result in and how it can be averted. But the reality is that our problem is much more diverse than this single problem. Our endangered species are being poached, our planet polluted, our very genes are being altered before we know what will happen as a result. Our wars are changing our psyche and creating vast reservoirs of appalling karma for our species. Obesity and diet related disease is destroying our health and health care services as are pollution and stress. Corporate greed is plundering the entire planet. Poverty is as intense as ever it was and ravaging entire nations sometimes for political reasons. Nuclear power is leaving a vast legacy of waste that has been dumped at sea, buried or is in stockpiles awaiting an age where there may be an answer or funding, and is not taken into the cost equation when constructing more power stations. We have vast stockpiles of nuclear weapons that may be used literally at any time. Our United Nations is dysfunctional and some nations get away with murder while others are unchallenged. We are about to witness in the next few years a vast eruption of methane gas locked in the melting tundra and under melting icecaps – a gas considered to be many times more destructive for our delicate atmosphere than carbon dioxide and one whose sudden release seems to have preceded previous mass extinctions.

Is this true? We are not scientists so how can we know. Looking up on Google ’methane climate’ just now the first item on the list was this:

Hot Talk, Cold Science
Global Warming’s Unfinished Debate

S. Fred Singer (Author)
Frederick Seitz (Foreword

S. Fred Singer is a distinguished astrophysicist who has taken a hard, scientific look at the evidence. In this book, Dr. Singer explores the inaccuracies in historical climate data, the limitations of attempting to model climate on computers, solar variability and its impact on climate, the effects of clouds, ocean currents, and sea levels on global climate, and factors that could mitigate any human impacts on world climate.

Singer’s masterful analysis decisively shows that the pessimistic, and often alarming, global warming scenarios depicted in the media have no scientific basis. In fact, he finds that many aspects of any global warming, such as a longer growing season for food and a reduced need to use fossil fuels for heating, would actually have a positive impact on the human race. Further, Singer notes how many proposed “solutions” to the global warming “crisis” (like “carbon” taxes) would have severe consequences for economically disadvantaged groups and nations.

Hot Talk, Cold Science is essential reading for anyone who wants to be fully informed about the global warming debate. “

Perhaps he is right but as I had never heard of the man I found this on Wikipedia

Siegfried Fred Singer (born September 27, 1924) is an Austrian-born American physicist and emeritus professor of environmental science at the University of Virginia. Singer trained as an atmospheric physicist and is known for his work in space research, atmospheric pollution, rocket and satellite technology, his questioning of the link between UV-B and melanoma rates, and that between CFCs and stratospheric ozone loss, his public downplaying of the health risks of passive smoking, and as an advocate for climate change denial. He is the author or editor of several books including Global Effects of Environmental Pollution (1970), The Ocean in Human Affairs (1989), Global Climate Change (1989), The Greenhouse Debate Continued (1992), and Hot Talk, Cold Science (1997). He has also co-authored Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1,500 Years (2007) with Dennis Avery, and Climate Change Reconsidered (2009) with Craig Idso.

Singer has had a varied career, serving in the armed forces, government, and academia. He designed mines for the U.S. Navy during World War II, before obtaining his Ph.D. in physics from Princeton University in 1948 and working as a scientific liaison officer in the U.S. Embassy in London. He became a leading figure in early space research, was involved in the development of earth observation satellites, and in 1962 established the National Weather Bureau‘s Satellite Service Center. He was the founding dean of the University of Miami School of Environmental and Planetary Sciences in 1964, and held several government positions, including deputy assistant administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency, and chief scientist for the Department of Transportation. He held a professorship with the University of Virginia from 1971 until 1994, and with George Mason University until 2000.

In 1990 Singer founded the Science & Environmental Policy Project, and in 2006 was named by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as one of a minority of scientists said to be creating a stand-off on a consensus on climate change. Singer argues there is no evidence that global warming is attributable to human-caused increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide, and that humanity would benefit if temperatures do rise. He is an opponent of the Kyoto Protocol, and has claimed that climate models are neither based on reality nor evidence. Singer has been accused of rejecting peer-reviewed and independently confirmed scientific evidence in his claims concerning public health and environmental issues…..” Wikipedia

Who am I to argue? My point above is that ’global warming’ has been given a front seat and the very many unarguable issues are either excluded from entry or take back seats.

Now today the point that I really wish to discuss is not climate change, politics, propaganda or anything else just the fact that enlightened beings are running the forces of ignorance or darkness and quite deliberate in that. Who they are is not particularly relevant either. Nor even what they are. They could all be sociopaths for example but it makes no difference. A television programme this week showed us the ‘corporate psychopaths’ that they think have taken the business world into war with the populations. It was interesting but not as interesting to me as to why they have done this. Some will see in this the greed for money and undoubtedly that is something feeding the cancer cells but even so it is not what caused the disease. The question is why are enlightened beings preventing enlightenment for the human?

The answer is extremely simple. Why do we have secrets? Why do inventors patent their inventions? Why do colonists fight to hold onto the conquests they have made? Why do most of us pass on our assets to our children? Why do we have private land ownership? Why indeed do we have poverty rubbing shoulders with extreme wealth? In my life I have come across many gurus and yet not one of them was willing to share the real ‘secret’ of their enlightenment. They sold many products that they assured others contained this secret but every one held onto it. Why?

The terrible truth is that those who want enlightenment usually want it for the wrong reasons. In theory it is impossible to obtain if that is the case. Some of the misguided ideas on the subject suggest that if any part of the self remains it will not come, as if Gautama Buddha really had no ‘self’ when all that is written or known about him clearly shows that he did. Of course the concept of selflessness is quite separate from this obsession with having so self. Selflessness is about putting certain things before one’s own desires. There are a huge number of people who act in this way, most mothers do. But some put the interests of quite dangerous entities before their own interests and do so not for money or fame but delusion. That is to say many of them ’believe’ fiercely in things which the enlightened ones know are not actually true. You can do good works in your life for the wrong reasons and conversely do evil for what seem to be the right reasons. That would include lying to the world to keep it safe.

This matter is not easy even if it is simple. The point is summed up in the word ’apocalypse’. This word has been given a meaning that is the complete opposite of its real meaning. The word is Greek and actually translates “An apocalypse (Ancient Greek: ἀποκάλυψις apokálypsis, from ἀπό and καλύπτω, literally meaning “an uncovering”) is a disclosure of knowledge or revelation. In religious contexts it is usually a disclosure of something hidden, “a vision of heavenly secrets that can make sense of earthly realities”.Wikipedia

But the dictionary meaning now is for example:

apocalypse ə’pɒkəlɪps/ noun

noun: Apocalypse; noun: the Apocalypse; noun: apocalypse; plural noun: apocalypses

1. the complete final destruction of the world, as described in the biblical book of Revelation.

“the bell’s ringing is supposed to usher in the Apocalypse”

(especially in the Vulgate Bible) the book of Revelation.

singular proper noun: Apocalypse

2. an event involving destruction or damage on a catastrophic scale.

“the apocalypse of World War II”

And what you can see here is that ‘revelation’ or the opening of the eyes of humanity is considered to usher the ‘complete destruction of the world’. There then is the excuse for keeping our eyes firmly shut even if the enlightened are the ones doing this.

I remember something that happened in the 1970’s. I had recently come across a sect that said they wanted to help planet earth because she was pregnant. They thought that planets gave birth to moons and there is certainly some evidence these days for that being partly true. It coincided with many of us former hippies being extremely concerned about environmental issues. Then suddenly one day I was handed a book, a small paperback, by someone in the sect who warned me to keep it to myself and only to pass it on the someone I could trust. I was told that the authors and various people related to them had been murdered. These days it would be freely available on the internet. Anyway this book was making a point which I suppose is tied up with all of this although it was almost certainly a fake. In some ways it reminds me of the way that conspiracy theories are often so absolutely ludicrous that they give conspiracy theory a bad name as a result. I am sure this is deliberate and we might note that a very discredited conspiracy is for example that we are controlled by the Illuminati. But the little book was called Alternative 3 and this is what I have found on it today:

Alternative 3 is a television programme, broadcast once only in the United Kingdom in 1977, and later broadcast in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, as a fictional hoax, an heir to Orson Wellesradio production of The War of the Worlds. Purporting to be an investigation into the UK’s contemporary “brain drain“, Alternative 3 uncovered a plan to make the Moon and Mars habitable in the event of climate change and a terminal environmental catastrophe on Earth.

The programme was originally meant to be broadcast on April Fools Day, 1977. While its broadcast was delayed until June 20, the credits explicitly date the film to April 1. Alternative 3 ended with credits for the actors involved in the production and featured interviews with a fictitious American astronaut

The programme was presented as an edition of an Anglia TV series called Science Report. The intended transmission date was April 1, but it seems that Anglia was unable to obtain an ITV network slot for the programme on that date due to strike action/labour disputes. The script was written by Chris Miles and David Ambrose. Music was supplied by Brian Eno, a portion of his score being released on the album Music for Films (1978). Apart from the presenter Tim Brinton, all the characters in the programme were played by actors who were explicitly credited at the end.

The episode began by detailing the so-called “brain drain:” a number of mysterious disappearances and deaths of physicists, engineers, astronomers, and others in related fields. Among the strange deaths reported was that of one “Professor Ballantine” of Jodrell Bank. Before his death, Ballantine delivers a videotape to an academic friend, but upon playback the tape appears to contain only static.

According to the research presented in the episode, it was hypothesized that the missing scientists were involved in a secret American/Soviet plan in outer space, and further suggested that interplanetary space travel had been possible for much longer than was commonly accepted. The episode featured an Apollo astronaut “Bob Grodin” (played by Shane Rimmer) who claims to have stumbled on a mysterious lunar base during his moonwalk.

It was claimed that scientists had determined that the Earth‘s surface would be unable to support life for much longer, due to pollution leading to catastrophic climate change. Physicist “Dr Carl Gerstein” (played by Richard Marner) claimed to have proposed in 1957 that there were three alternatives to this problem. The first alternative was the drastic reduction of the human population on Earth. The second alternative was the construction of vast underground shelters to house government officials and a cross section of the population until the climate had stabilised, a solution reminiscent of the finale of Dr Strangelove. The third alternative, the so-called “Alternative 3,” was to populate Mars via a way station on the Moon.

The programme ends with some detective work; acting on information from Grodin, the reporters determine that Ballantine’s videotape requires a special decoding device. After locating the decoder, the resulting video turns out to depict a joint American and Russian landing on the Martian surface in 1962.

The programme was made with stock film used at the time to make it appear like a conventional documentary programme. In a 1989 interview, actor Richard Marner (Dr Carl Gerstein) said he didn’t rehearse his lines to make the delivery appear as natural as possible.

Within minutes of the programme ending, Anglia Television was flooded with telephone calls demanding more information. Callers were told the programme was a hoax. The Times on 21 June reported that “Independent television companies last night received hundreds of protest calls after an Anglia programme, Alternative 3, gave alarming facts about changes in the Earth’s atmosphere. It was a hoax, originally intended for April 1st.” It also pointed out that several of the characters in the programme were played by well known actors.

Nick Austin, who was editorial director of Sphere Books when Watkins’ adaptation was commissioned and published, writes that the book was the “best chance I’d ever be likely to get to participate in a hoax of truly Guy Grand proportions — the best thing of its kind since Orson WellesWar of the Worlds radio broadcast.”

Austin writes that he was both delighted and disturbed by the Alternative 3 controversy, and adds that the reasons “a clever hoax, openly admitted to be such by its creators, should continue to exercise the fascination it so obviously does the best part of a generation after its first appearance is beyond my feeble powers of analysis and explanation.”

A more detailed explanation of the hoax is featured in a study of conspiracy theory subculture and literature, Culture of Conspiracy: Apocalyptic Visions in Contemporary America (2003), wherein Michael Barkun devotes a few pages to Alternative 3.

Barkun writes that “Alternative 3 was clearly a hoax — and not only because it was intended for broadcast on April Fools Day. The interviews with supposed scientists, astronauts, and others were far too dramatically polished to have been spontaneous, and in any case, the episode’s closing credits named the actors who took the roles of interviewees and correspondents. Though artfully produced, the show’s counterfeit documentary style could scarcely have been expected to fool many. As an Anglia TV spokeseman put it, ‘We felt viewers would be fairly sophisticated about it.'”

Barkun notes that television and newspapers were “swamped” with inquiries about Alternative 3 and that Anglia Television’s sale of the book rights to Leslie Watkins caused the tale to spread far beyond the United Kingdom.

In 1978, Leslie Watkins wrote a science fiction book based on the screenplay for the television episode. Watkins had previously written a few moderately successful “suspense thriller” novels, and his Alternative 3 novelization detailed many of the claims presented in the episode. It was published by Sphere Books Ltd, of Grays’s Inn Road, London. In the book, many of the fictional characters were replaced with real people. For example, quotes from the fictional astronaut Bob Grodin were attributed to real life astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Edgar Mitchell.

Jim Keith‘s Casebook on Alternative 3: Ufo’s, Secret Societies and World Control (Illuminet Pr) ISBN 0-9626534-9-7, argues that some elements of the 1977 broadcast were in fact true.

Ken Mitchell’s novel, Alternative 3 (HarperCollins) ISBN 0-7322-7703-5 uses the Alternative 3 scenario as a background to a techno-thriller. On June 20, 2010, the 33rd anniversary of the original Anglia Television broadcast, an allegedly “unexpurgated” edition of the Alternative 3 text was released as an eBook”

I suppose what is most interesting to me about this little book, not having seen the television programme and living very close to Grays Inn where such books were published is that it made no difference to my thinking anyway. I was being deluged on a daily basis with deranged fantasies about Atlantis, Egypt, magic, a lost brotherhood etc. However even this year Stephen Hawking, the eminent scientist, has said we must colonise another planet if we are to survive and this little book foretold global warming before anyone else. My recollection was that one of the alternatives which was rejected was for the human to return to the stone age.

How many of you either know or are a control freak? I come across them all the time. It seems to me to be quite a recent thing because in my youth although we were strictly controlled it did not seem to be so obsessive. People were allowed to make mistakes and then punished for them. Control freaks refuse to give up control even when they are wrong. In my childhood when people were wrong they resigned but now many hold onto power for all they are worth and even make speeches explaining that they are the only ones who can save us, save their country, save their company, save their party. They mean save themselves from ignominy. Enlightened masters have become control freaks. You can clearly see this in the behaviour of recent famous gurus and politicians. They invest much energy into cover ups. I will not detail them but many of the gurus have been sued or accused of sexual assault. Many politicians of dishonesty or having vested interests. This is true also of major organisations in our time. The classic example given to us whether it is true or not is that of the Emperor Nero ’fiddling while Rome burned’.

So the definition of enlightenment is no longer enough. The enlightened have knowledge of the facts and can see. They may even be selfless servants of some organisation. But for one reason or another they are against humanity being allowed to see the facts for themselves and have devised all manner of strategies and diversions to ensure that is, and remains, the case. They maintain that humans knowing the truth, seeing what is coming, will lead to chaos and instability in Creation. I suppose the example is to be seen in films where some devastation strikes or is about to strike and we see shops being looted, people killed, raped and abused and the forces of law and order trodden underfoot by a crazed horde. Revolutions are also seen like this, unless we support them. In truth the bus driver is taking the bus over a cliff while maintaining that the real danger is in replacing him. He says that telling his passengers they are going over the cliff will result in great danger! That is what a control freak says anyway.

So find your enlightenment by all means but also try mentally to find a way to save us. The saviours are the best example to us all, not those promoting war, genocide, theft and inequality. Peace likes to be promoted peacefully. Violence likes to be promoted and portrayed as a peaceful solution. The laws of Karma and Dharma (Justice and Truth) are inflexible and we will all have to account for our actions, which will all be known when we die because we will testify against ourselves. Whatever you do in life bear that in mind.

Your ancestors have a big stake in you and will either be justified or disgraced by your life. If they see you as trying to justify them by good works and salvation they will help you. Perhaps it would help if you tried to contact them for whatever help they can give you. You do not need a medium – you need to be a medium and practise your clairvoyance. Ask their help in doing that. You may be surprised at what happens. These are the kind of meditations that are so beneficial. Chanting a mantra benefits someone else, usually the one who gave it to you to repeat endlessly like the lies that appear to be true when repeated often enough.

The Clairvoyant & Enlightened Times

Issue 33 – 18 July 2017 – rattuos

Now to look at a very controversial concept in science, and quite a recent one, which is extremely important as far as we (those who seek enlightenment) are concerned. Let us start with the days when the earth was known to be flat, although there were no very clear ideas on what happened when you reached the edge of it. But one year changed that and a ship arrived from the east having headed out to the west having taken measurements of sun and stars all the way round . Suddenly the world was known to be a globe. Very soon we understood gravity which underpinned this new concept. There have been quite a number of vast changes in human understanding of nature, physics and science in general and it could be pointed out that in many cases this was as the result of one person work and dedication with much opposition from the scientific community etc.

These massive changes, sea changes we might call them continue. Part of the concept that I am mentioning is what this means. The man credited with this particular concept was both a scientist and someone who studied the history of science. He died in 1996. He is controversial not so much for pointing out the obvious – the massive changes in our understanding from time to time – but for the rules he saw in play each time this happened. So for example he suggested that science is not what it is cracked up to be. We never have a complete understanding and it can change radically at any time. What we have is a perception or consensus (my words) which are created by scientists, often from their work in areas that are quite bewildering to us – advanced mathematics, biology, chemistry, astrophysics etc. Science did not take kindly to this as you will see.

He also pointed out that the followers of one concept, one consensus had nothing in common with the followers and supporters of the new consensus, not that he put it like that but if you look at my list here you will soon realise that there are two extreme camps on many issues – one that sees it as an opportunity and one that sees it as a threat. That may help to see the problem and how the two camps have nothing in common on that issue, are in fact in denial over what is understood by the opposite camp. (“Competing paradigms are frequently incommensurable; that is, they are competing and irreconcilable accounts of reality” Wikipedia)

This is not to take sides just to look at sides before looking at paradigns:

The author of the work on the concept of ‘paradigm shift’:

Thomas Samuel Kuhn (/kuːn/; July 18, 1922 – June 17, 1996) was an American physicist, historian and philosopher of science whose controversial 1962 book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions was influential in both academic and popular circles, introducing the term paradigm shift, which has since become an English-language idiom.” Wikipedia

I have not even brought up religion but a friend was at a funeral last week and commented on the priest mentioning the Virgin Mary. Another friend refused to go to the service because he called it all ‘mumbo jumbo’. He went to the crematorium instead. Consider the division in the human perception of religious concepts and how worried the business of religion must be over a paradigm shift here. I copied an extract from the Wikipedia article on Kuhn’s book because it reveals the tensions he created:

“The Structure of Scientific Revolutions was soon criticized by Kuhn’s colleagues in the history and philosophy of science. In 1965, a special symposium on the book was held at an International Colloquium on the Philosophy of Science that took place at Bedford College, London, and was chaired by Karl Popper. The symposium led to the publication of the symposium’s presentations plus other essays, most of them critical, which eventually appeared in an influential volume of essays that by 1999 had gone through 21 printings. Kuhn expressed the opinion that his critics’ readings of his book were so inconsistent with his own understanding of it that he was “…tempted to posit the existence of two Thomas Kuhns,” one the author of his book, the other the individual who had been criticized in the symposium by “Professors Popper, Feyerabend, Lakatos, Toulmin and Watkins.”

A number of the included essays question the existence of normal science. In his essay, Feyerabend suggests that Kuhn’s conception of normal science fits organized crime as well as it does science. Popper goes so far as to express distaste with the entire premise of Kuhn’s book, writing, “the idea of turning for enlightenment concerning the aims of science, and its possible progress, to sociology or to psychology (or. . .to the history of science) is surprising and disappointing.”

Concept of paradigm

In his 1972 work, Human Understanding, Stephen Toulmin argued that a more realistic picture of science than that presented in The Structure of Scientific Revolutions would admit the fact that revisions in science take place much more frequently, and are much less dramatic than can be explained by the model of revolution/normal science. In Toulmin’s view, such revisions occur quite often during periods of what Kuhn would call “normal science.” For Kuhn to explain such revisions in terms of the non-paradigmatic puzzle solutions of normal science, he would need to delineate what is perhaps an implausibly sharp distinction between paradigmatic and non-paradigmatic science.

Incommensurability of paradigms

In a series of texts published in the early 1970s, C.R. Kordig asserted a position somewhere between that of Kuhn and the older philosophy of science. His criticism of the Kuhnian position was that the incommensurability thesis was too radical, and that this made it impossible to explain the confrontation of scientific theories that actually occurs. According to Kordig, it is in fact possible to admit the existence of revolutions and paradigm shifts in science while still recognizing that theories belonging to different paradigms can be compared and confronted on the plane of observation. Those who accept the incommensurability thesis do not do so because they admit the discontinuity of paradigms, but because they attribute a radical change in meanings to such shifts.

Kordig maintains that there is a common observational plane. For example, when Kepler and Tycho Brahe are trying to explain the relative variation of the distance of the sun from the horizon at sunrise, both see the same thing (the same configuration is focused on the retina of each individual). This is just one example of the fact that “rival scientific theories share some observations, and therefore some meanings.” Kordig suggests that with this approach, he is not reintroducing the distinction between observations and theory in which the former is assigned a privileged and neutral status, but that it is possible to affirm more simply the fact that, even if no sharp distinction exists between theory and observations, this does not imply that there are no comprehensible differences at the two extremes of this polarity.

At a secondary level, for Kordig there is a common plane of inter-paradigmatic standards or shared norms that permit the effective confrontation of rival theories….” Wikipedia

I am certainly no expert on Kuhn or his work but as far as enlightenment is concerned here is the problem. As soon as the enlightened enter the debate they are immediately shot down by the consensus, by science itself because they feel so threatened. Old concepts are comfortable, but more important is the fact that people and indeed corporations have invested so heavily in them both financially and with their reputations and life that they will fight to their last breath against any change’s work they will fight to their . Some take it further and see the stability of the entire world order threatened. When for example I posit that the major religions, cultures and even the pyramids resulted from a UK festival in 1971, were that to be taken seriously it would undermine and annoy most of the world. Not to mention the scientific perception of time.

Kuhn also stated that paradigm shifts were always for the better. So for

example when science accepted the fact that the earth orbited the sun and not vice versa it improved science and the world. But I see shifts which are not at all beneficial. A classic one was when during WW2 they started using DDT as an insecticide against malaria and typhus (spread by lice). Soon it was uses all over the world in huge quantities killing agricultural pests. That was a paradigm shift as far as I am concerned. But in 1962 they first noticed the environmental impact, the cancer. In 1972 it was banned. Not because they had time to notice how we need insects as we now see our bee populations wiped out many think by pesticides. Nuclear energy was a paradigm shift but now we are beginning to count the real cost of nuclear power to make electricity (against solar, tidal and wind power). Not to mention the problem of nuclear weapons all over the place. But one can clearly see how the scientific and political communities are reacting to, and preventing in some cases, a reversal of the shifts. Global warming is the big one and if true is almost certainly the result of the last few paradigm shifts. Not always for the better are they? But if science would take a bit longer to identify the problems before deluging us with these new products and steps into the unknown we would have a better chance of survival.

Enlightenment is what paradigm shifts eventually take us to and in that sense they are always for the better. We start with ignorance and end up with knowledge. However the negative side of that is starting with innocence and ending up ‘should know better’. To say that science is unable or unwilling to facilitate a shift to clairvoyance and enlightenment is to minimise the real problem we have. We have a history of burning, ridiculing and these days withdrawing funding from any who look like taking us there. A fair, just and civilised world that cares for our habitat, nature and its many species.

The Clairvoyant & Enlightened Times

Issue 32 – 14 July 2017 – rattuos

‘For the record’ is an interesting term with a fascinating history and it is the only reason I write here. What it means is that something stated is written, recorded anyway, for posterity. We should note that such records are not always reliable. If written and preserved as for example the pyramid texts have been, chiselled into stone for us, then they may have more reliability. But in fact they were written in stone many centuries after they first appeared and had been handed down in oral traditions that certainly altered, added to and lost some. So it is with most of the scriptures we have but the point is that we have done much better in recent centuries in finding, deciphering and preserving the earliest and most reliable records. Now much of this record is stored digitally but how long it will last we do not know. We have discovered that our videos, photos, CD’s and DVD’s are not indestructible and deteriorate over quite a short timescale. Books do not last well these days, not as long as the ancient papyri and parchments. Our limestone grave stones are mostly worn away by the weather and pollution and unreadable if over 200 years old. The Egyptians had the foresight to use granite which lasts very well even though Cleopatra’s needle is finding London’s weather and pollution to have caused more damage in 100 years there than Egypt managed in 3500. They also buried much deep underground in hidden chambers which in some cases defied the tomb robbers and left some record for us. The Indus Valley civilizations which are just as ancient as Egypt did not wear as well and their script has been impossible to translate so far. But they did leave much for the record as did the contemporaneous Sumerians. All these nations traded with each other and the record for that is found in Indus/Afghani lapis lazuli in Egyptian tombs dating to 4000BC etc.

Today I thought to look at some of these records and what they mean. And will start with this:

“There are multiple stories about the origins of the Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. -Shrimad Bhagvatam states that Lord Shiva appeared from between the eyebrows of Lord Brahma. -Shiva Purana states that Lord Vishnu orignated when Lord Shiva rubbed some nectar on his ankle. -Vishnu Purana says that Lord Shiva originated from the eyebrows of the lord Vishnu, and that is why Lord Shiva is mostly in the meditative state”

(Incidentally the Shrimad is an ancient scripture “The Bhagavata is widely recognized as the best-known and most influential of the Puranas and, along with the Itihasa and other puranas, is sometimes referred to as the “Fifth Veda“. It is important in Indian religious literature for its emphasis on the practice of devotion as compared to the more theoretical approach of the Bhagavad Gita; for a definition of religion that competes with the Vedas and for its extended description of a God in human form. It is the source of many popular stories of Krishna’s childhood told for centuries on the Indian subcontinent and of legends explaining Hindu festivals such as Holi and Diwali. The Bhagavata declares itself the essence of all the Upanishads and derivative Smritis;

The Srimad Bhagavatam is the very essence of all the Vedanta literature. One who has enjoyed the nectar of its rasa never has any desire for anything else.

— Bhagavata Purana 12.13.15, Translated by David Haberman…”

And we can compare the Indian origin myth with an Egyptian one:

“(Budge The Gods of the Egyptians Thoth was said to be born from the skull of

Set also said to be born from the heart of Ra. p. 401)” Wikipedia

It is recorded that Thoth sprang from the forehead of the ancient god Sutekh (Set).

We can also bear in mind this:

“ The Bhagavata Purana, like other puranas, discusses a wide range of topics including cosmology, genealogy, geography, mythology, legend, music, dance, yoga and culture. As it begins, the forces of evil have won a war between the benevolent devas (deities) and evil asuras (demons) and now rule the universe. Truth re-emerges as Krishna, (called “Hari” and “Vasudeva” in the text) – first makes peace with the demons, understands them and then creatively defeats them, bringing back hope, justice, freedom and happiness – a cyclic theme that appears in many legends.

The Bhagavata Purana is a revered text in Vaishnavism, a Hindu tradition that reveres Vishnu. The text presents a form of religion (dharma) that competes with that of the Vedas, wherein bhakti ultimately leads to self-knowledge, liberation (moksha) and bliss. However the Bhagavata Purana asserts that the inner nature and outer form of Krishna is identical to the Vedas and that this is what rescues the world from the forces of evil. An oft-quoted verse is used by some Krishna sects to assert that the text itself is Krishna in literary form” Wikipedia

This last part explains something about the ‘record’. The deities that are recorded wield huge power through this record. A good example are those we find in the Bible, the Old Testament gods El and Yahweh/Jehovah and the New Testament Father, Son (Jesus) and Holy Ghost. Just by virtue of this record they have exercised huge power over multiple generations, religions and empires. Allah in the Koran has too. And if we look at the ancient cultures of Egypt and India we find the same thing. The records they pass on from one generation to the next are a ‘deity’ in themselves and looked at over thousands of years it becomes apparent that in fact they are the deity. Their origins lost in the mists of time. Or almost until we look deeper and find the first two records – that Shiva and Thoth both came from the forehead of someone else. They are the same person with different names, or put another way whatever they are has been given different names in different cultures and languages.

But to finish the ‘record’ part I would suggest it has never been very clearly understood although it is quite simple. One reason for that is that the philosophers who investigated it first did not have the full historical consequences of it to look at. The centuries during which the bibles and scriptures ruled humanity. But they did discuss it and called it the ‘word’ or Logos:

Logos (UK: /’loʊgɒs, ‘lɒgɒs/, US: /’loʊgoʊs/; Ancient Greek: λόγος, from λέγω lego “I say”) is a term in western philosophy, psychology, rhetoric, and religion derived from a Greek word meaning “ground”, “plea”, “opinion”, “expectation”, “word”, “speech”, “account”, “reason”, “proportion”, “discourse”, but it became a technical term in philosophy beginning with Heraclitus (c. 535–475 BCE), who used the term for a principle of order and knowledge. Logos is the logic behind an argument. Logos tries to persuade an audience using logical arguments and supportive evidence. Logos is a persuasive technique often used in writing and rhetoric.

Ancient Greek philosophers used the term in different ways. The sophists used the term to mean discourse, and Aristotle applied the term to refer to “reasoned discourse” or “the argument” in the field of rhetoric. The Stoic philosophers identified the term with the divine animating principle pervading the Universe. Under Hellenistic Judaism, Philo (c. 20 BCE – 50 CE) adopted the term into Jewish philosophy. The Gospel of John identifies the Logos, through which all things are made, as divine (theos), and further identifies Jesus Christ as the incarnate Logos. Although the term “Logos” is widely used in this Christian sense, in academic circles it often refers to the various ancient Greek uses, or to post-Christian uses within contemporary philosophy, Sufism, and the analytical psychology of Carl Jung.

Despite the conventional translation as “word”, it is not used for a word in the grammatical sense; instead, the term lexis (λέξις) was used. However, both logos and lexis derive from the same verb legō (λέγω), meaning “count, tell, say, speak” Wikipedia

The gospel of John (“usually dated to AD 90–110” Wikipedia ie at least 40 years after Philo died) may have been influenced by Philo who lived in Egypt (“Some scholars hold that his concept of the Logos as God’s creative principle influenced early Christology. Other scholars deny direct influence but say that Philo and Early Christianity borrow from a common source – Wikipedia)

John 1King James Version (KJV)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake……”

New Testament

In a sense when certain scholars maintain that Jesus was a spiritual concept and not a physical man this is what they mean by that.

In my meditations during the 1980’s I made contact with certain men and women in our distant past. I would not have been certain of this even though I experienced it but later found the record they had made of my visits which convinced me the experiences were real. I was comparatively young then and would not have acted as I did now. For example when I discovered that I was sitting before them in a camp fire I rubbed hot embers in my eyes. It was a silly thing to do but became something of a trademark. Although others have not been able to go back in time because of this and worries that any more doing so might cause major problems (I call that short circuiting time which is something mediums do when they ‘see‘ the future and tell others, presumably less problematic than going to the past and showing them the future) some have managed this kind of bilocation in their own times and also do silly things like cutting off their arms and putting them back on. In your spiritual form you can fly and do nature defying tricks – you will probably know that from what you do in your dream self. It is most unusual to acquire the spiritual ability to be seen be people who are awake. But I was guided to do quite serious work, invited many I met to visit me in my life and eventually realised that they had come en masse in 1971, met me and seen others like me at that festival – before I had even thought to travel back in my meditations. The point is that this ‘deity’ that comes out of your head is your spirit, and is only a spirit, not a god as such. But viewed by adepts in pre-history, who left record of this, that is how it has subsequently been interpreted. Not to mention the many myths added on to the original fact.

I have struggled to find colour photographs of that festival. I had a borrowed camera with me and certainly took some photos that have long since vanished. But in looking at the internet image resources I have seen again many of the people who were in that field of reeds in our west country, which is exactly how the Ancient Egyptians described it. Here there were Hare Krishna followers, a famous young Indian guru, priests and holy men of many kinds. Western fakirs were there quite naked sitting cross legged or in some contorted position. Half naked women danced as reported in the Islamic portrayal of what they call Paradise where there are supposedly high breasted houris (certainly not provided to murderous suicide bombers whatever they are told). There were ordinary Somerset villagers too and many of the world’s travelling hippies. Over the last 46 years I have spoken with quite a few who were there, although there were possibly only one or two thousand at most, a very small festival by today’s standards and nothing like the massive Woodstock which preceded it by two years and influenced it, as did the festivals in the Isle of Wight. The people there in 1971 that spoke with me mostly had quite intense mystical and spiritual experiences and almost all considered it the most enjoyable or meaningful time in their lives, influencing almost everything they did thereafter. Certainly many of them met the spirits who attended from their various times in our history and who recorded it in a similar fashion. Here are a few more photographs I found on the net for interest or nostalgia.

There are about 30 of them, some in colour, but you have to scroll the right way to find them. They seem to relate to a particular group of people there but may illustrate what I am suggesting about this curious gathering which has been such a huge influence on some of the most influential people on our planet over the last 6000 years. I am merely placing my view on the record, don’t worry about it if you disagree, strongly disagree or never find out about it.
